Why on Earth Would We Sit for Free?

We are frequently asked why we would provide house and pet sitting services for no charge. People usually are aghast when we tell them, and they tell us we're being taken advantage of. We disagree. So why would we sit for free?

In a nutshell, it's because we love to travel. We also have a skill and some terrific experience to go along with it. Travel can be expensive. But so can professional animal care while pet owners travel! They want someone with the wisdom and experience to make sure things are OK at home.

Travel is expensive. So is professional pet care! We make it win-win for all.

Homeowners see our arrangement as a win-win situation, and so do we. That's not to say that we accept sits just anywhere or for anyone. First off, it has to be in a location where we want to be. Secondly, we (homeowner, us, pets, house) all need to match up in terms of needs and expectations. We can usually accomplish this through a video chat, or if we're close by, we'll stop in and meet each other and the pets.

Through good communication and planning, we and the homeowners we sit for come up with an arrangement that's satisfactory for both, and we all feel like winners!
